Lisa Parker, MSN, FNP-C, BC-ADM, MHP, is passionate about helping patients achieve optimal metabolic health. Using thorough laboratory and physical assessment, Lisa helps patients develop individualized nutrition and lifestyle modification plans to prevent and/or reverse metabolic syndrome – the root cause of obesity, pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular disease. She uses various modalities to achieve these outcomes, including:

  • Carbohydrate restriction
  • Fasting
  • Hormone balancing
  • Nutrient repletion
  • Mitochondrial support
  • Gut/microbiome restoration/optimization
  • Food addiction counseling referrals

Lisa received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi and has been a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner for over thirteen years. She is certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, as well as a board-certified Advanced Diabetes Manager through the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES).

Originally from New Orleans, Lisa provided care to an underserved population of Southern Mississippi (“the diabetes belt” and the most obese state in the U.S.).  This experience gave Lisa a unique understanding of the chronic metabolic health crisis. Lisa’s background as a Nurse Practitioner is diverse, having practiced in both primary and acute care from rural health clinics to urgent care. Lisa also owned her own house-call practice. Lisa aspires to empower her patients to make changes leading to healthier, happier lives and looks to resolve the root cause of their chronic health problems instead of merely treating the symptoms.

She and her husband moved to Ashland in late 2019 to build their own cabin and self-sufficient lifestyle. She enjoys growing/raising her own organic food, skiing, hiking, fishing, crabbing, and hunting. Her personal passions are permaculture and creating great-tasting organic, healthy low carb meals.
